About

Patrick F Mitchell

Born in Northern California, Patrick moved to the UK at an early age and was educated at Gravesend Grammar School and Mayfield Grammar School.

At the London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM), he studied trumpet with Sid Gauld and Jazz Performance and Theory with Dave O’Higgins and Graham Harvey, going on to focus on Arranging and Musical Direction under Simon Wallace and Mark Armstrong. Patrick formed his own Big Band during this time.

Patrick had the opportunity to work with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) as a Mentor for the NYJO London and NYJO Academy Big Band, under Phil Meadows and Sebastian De Krom, as well as serving as a NYJO Ambassador.

Habanera, an 11 piece latin/salsa band, was formed by Patrick in his second year at music college and gigs around London.

Returning to Gravesend Grammar School to run their new GCSE Music course, and recently being named Head of Music, Patrick teaches in the classroom alongside private lessons and gigs.
